About The Reeds
enjoying food, enjoying life
Why A Private Club?
Public dining has become a chore in many respects. Reservations are difficult to get in the better places, parking is hard to find, service is often indifferent and except for top tier restaurants food can be mediocre. Worst of all is the “entitled” attitude of many diners whose lack of respect for staff and other diners can quickly ruin the dining experience.
A private club, whose members have common goals and interests and a voice in the final product, can better control the process and deliver a superior overall experience. Click HERE for Private Club articles.

Ambiance
The Reeds Club will strive to create a warm, upscale ambiance through furniture, lighting, artwork, flower displays and elegantly set tables. The goal is a sophisticated environment, yet one that is neither “stuffy” or “elite”. The look will resemble the “supper clubs” of days gone by. A visit to The Reeds is a celebration of how food, drink, people and setting come together to create something unique.
The Club is planned for a location in Southern Monmouth County. We cannot disclose the exact location as current staff has not been informed as yet. The Club will feature a 30 seat bar (for which we will take reservations), surrounded by booths. The main dining room will feature a fireplace and a combination of booths and tables. There are two other smaller private dining rooms and an outside patio for dining in nicer weather.

the cornerstone
Customer Service
The most striking observation from our travels and our businesses is that customer service is the most important element of a restaurant’s success. Look around and you will find the most successful restaurants are those with superior customer service. Of course, the food must be good too, but people return most often because of the way they were treated. It is human nature to like being recognized, enjoy when people know your name, be happy when staff remember what you like to drink or eat.
“Customers tend to remember the quality of service they receive—sometimes even more than they remember the food! When customers think of your restaurant’s staff as being friendly and courteous, they’re more likely to feel a personal connection to your business.” Buzztime Business.
The Reeds Club will execute a customer service program that will encourage servers to build their own customer base (and therefore their income) through superior customer service. Our reservation system will allow diners to request specific servers. Servers will be encouraged to capture, on their POS systems, customer data preferences for future visits. Names of family members, drink choices, types of wine enjoyed, menu preferences and more. Staff members will be recognized and rewarded for “doing the unexpected”.
Staffing & Staff Retention
For a number of years, we have been compiling a list of managers, servers, bartenders and chefs who have exhibited a particular affinity for their jobs, who have demonstrated their understanding of customer service and who have enhanced the dining experience when we have been in their company. These individuals see their work as more than just a “job”.
As the Executive Director of Second Chance NJ, a non-profit that trains previously incarcerated people to become prep-cooks in local kitchens, Mr. Flynn and in turn, The Club, will have access to graduates, providing a steady stream of kitchen staff.
The Club will create a bonus program, a benefit package and other “perks” to minimize staff turnover.

Events
The Club will, from time to time, sponsor Special Events as a benefit to Club members and as an additional source of revenue. These events may include: wine, beer, spirits dinners, golf trips, wine tastings, weekend trips, cooking classes and more.

Our staff will treat all Members and their guests with the utmost respect, and the Club insists that our Members and their guests treat such staff and each other with the same courtesy. At no time and under no circumstances whatsoever shall the Club tolerate abusive, violent, destructive, menacing, and/or harassing behavior from a Member or their guest. If such behavior occurs, the Club reserves the right to remove the Member and their guests from the premises immediately.
